切平面

設 (x_0,y_0) 為曲面函式 z=f(x,y) 上的任意一點。則曲面在 (x_0,y_0) 處有一個非垂直切平面，其方程為

z=f(x_0,y_0)+f_x(x_0,y_0)(x-x_0)+f_y(x_0,y_0)(y-y_0).
