區域性密度

令球體堆積中的每個球體均勻膨脹，直到它在平面上接觸到它的鄰居。 將由此產生的多面體稱為區域性單元。 那麼區域性密度由下式給出

rho=(V_(sphere))/(V_(local cell)).

當區域性單元是正十二面體時，則

rho_(dodecahedron)=(pisqrt(5+sqrt(5)))/(15sqrt(10)(sqrt(5)-2))=0.7547....
