簡單的一階差分方程

A=-(m_s)/(m_d)

B=(b_d-b_s)/(m_d)

和

D_t=-m_dp_t+b_d

S_(t+1)=m_sp_t+b_s
(5)

分別是價格需求曲線和價格供給曲線，其中 -m_d 和 b_d 代表需求曲線的斜率和 D 軸截距，m_s 和 b_s 代表供給曲線的相應常數（Ezekiel 1938, Goldberg 1986）。

與此方程相關的一類行為在經濟學中被稱為“蛛網現象”。
